This year, the show of the 2020/21 Métiers d’art collection was held at the Château de Chenonceau, located in the Loire Valley and also known as “Le Château des Dames”.
2020 has been anything but 'normal', but thank goodness for the internet and digital world.
Prior to this year, I have not had the chance to see the Chanel fashion show live streaming. Being in Seoul, with 8 hours time zone difference between Korea and France, I decided to actually stay up, watch the BOF Voices 2020 and watch the Chanel Pre-Fall 2021 fashion show at 3am.
Like many other fashion shows, due to COVID-19, travel restrictions, social distancing and lockdowns, fashion shows haven't been the same and many brands have implemented tactical ways to showcase new collections whilst observing safety measures. Le Château des Dames Métiers d'Art 2020/21 started at 7pm Paris time, and this Ready-to-Wear collection is specific to Chanel, celebrating the skills of the artisans.
Paruriers from Desrues, feathermakers from Lemarié, milliners from Maison Michel, embroiderers from Lesage and Atelier Montex, shoemakers from Massaro, goldsmiths from Goossens, glovemakers from Causse Gantier and pleaters from Lognon, in Paris and in France.

The most sought exhibition this year, right next to the Louis Vuitton Series 3. We've queued for over an hour to get into the Saatchi Gallery for the exhibition (free of entry) and to be honest it was overcrowded.
Not surprising, since everyone in fashion practically loves Chanel!
Before the exhibition, we were advised to download an accompanying app, which unlocked the exhibition's modern marriage of tradition and technology. The immersive space allows visitors to delve into the house's higher realms of creativity, giving us a peek on its haute couture and the iconic fragrance Chanel No.5.
Despite the crowed, the space was enchanting, allowing us to get to know the brand from a different spectrum and just be in awe of its prestigious grace. I didn't take many pictures, mainly because I was into the exhibition so much, I forgot to take more pictures! Ps. the fragrance room was packed, that picture was pure luck!

I always imagined to have made my first Dior purchase in Paris, but Chanel won the race on that one. The experience wasn't as I expected, mainly because the environment felt intimidating. I didn't spend much time looking around but I got myself the Dior tribal earrings, in the classic pearl colour (can never go wrong with classics, can you?).
I have always wanted to be part of the Dior world and I thought this would have been a more lovely introduction, but it left me disappointed. Not of Dior, but the Madrid boutique experience, the brand ambassador was obviously not too enthusiastic about selling a pair of earrings for £200, when the starting price point of the handbags are £2000. Understandable but not excusable.
I work in luxury fashion retail, and I would not feel discouraged from providing a memorable service, whether the client is purchasing or not. It's always important to know that as a brand ambassador, most of the time, we are the face and first encounter of the brand to many clients.

Doing my masters at one of the most renowned universities has its many perks, including a talk about the Net Set by the Vice President and Creative Director; Sarah Watson and Alexandra Hoffnung themselves.
Although the talk was a little bit insightful, it didn't tell us more than we knew and as MA marketing students, we anticipated a little bit more. The app itself is interesting and innovative in its on right, an extension of instagram but shop-able and matches the pictures you upload with products Net-A-Porter has to offer. Instead of likes and follows, you admire and love.

Having lived in Zürich for 9 years, I would try to visit whenever I got the opportunity. Ever since moving to London, I only managed to visit the city twice in 10 years. Nevertheless, my trip Zürich was for holiday, however, I went above and beyond to do work duties for a client that required a specific product that was could not be shipped due to complications.
