DIOR SALAMANCA MADRID BOUTIQUE

I always imagined to have made my first Dior purchase in Paris, but Chanel won the race on that one. The experience wasn't as I expected, mainly because the environment felt intimidating. I didn't spend much time looking around but I got myself the Dior tribal earrings, in the classic pearl colour (can never go wrong with classics, can you?).

I have always wanted to be part of the Dior world and I thought this would have been a more lovely introduction, but it left me disappointed. Not of Dior, but the Madrid boutique experience, the brand ambassador was obviously not too enthusiastic about selling a pair of earrings for £200, when the starting price point of the handbags are £2000. Understandable but not excusable.

I work in luxury fashion retail, and I would not feel discouraged from providing a memorable service, whether the client is purchasing or not. It's always important to know that as a brand ambassador, most of the time, we are the face and first encounter of the brand to many clients.

BURBERRY ZÜRICH BOUTIQUE

Having lived in Zürich for 9 years, I would try to visit whenever I got the opportunity. Ever since moving to London, I only managed to visit the city twice in 10 years. Nevertheless, my trip Zürich was for holiday, however, I went above and beyond to do work duties for a client that required a specific product that was could not be shipped due to complications.

DIOR AVENUE MONTAIGNE

I've always wanted my Carrie Bradshaw moment in Dior Paris (minus the falling...that was just painful to watch!)

You can't imagine how excited I was to go through those doors into the infamous first Dior boutique, even though I didn't buy anything, I just wanted to see the boutique. After all, it is my favourite brand of all times (right before Chanel!). The boutique is everything I have imagined and more. The sales associate were all welcoming and friendly, which to my surprise made me like the brand even more.

I didn't have the courage to take pictures inside the boutique, and didn't want to appear like those desperate individuals who capture every detail of their visit of a boutique rather confidently. I got Sam to take the below just to make a memory.

CHANEL AVENUE MONTAIGNE

Just few months prior to visiting Paris, I went to the Chanel Harrods concession to treat myself for my recent promotion at Burberry. I wanted to get myself a timeless Chanel brooch but the sales associate was not to keen on assisting and Harrods was closing in 10 minutes (inexcusable), so he claimed that the till was closed and I could not purchase the brooch at that moment. He suggested I should come back the next day to purchase it instead. As if I've had nothing else to do but shop all week?

Anyhow, I was left disappointed, discouraged and somewhat rejected. Yes I can't afford a Chanel bag or jacket, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be treated any less? I went back the next day after work and of course, the brooch was sold out across London and the only availability of the product was in Paris. I didn't intend on travelling to Paris for a brooch, so I let it be.

To my surprise, I visited Paris with my friend Sam for his birthday. We decided to have a fancy day out and window shop around Avenue Montaigne. Us popping into Chanel was just to chance my luck and see if they had the brooch.

Of course it was very busy, buzzing with clients excitement, tourists face glowing over the beautiful visual merchandising (my face included) and just feeling the good vibe. A stark contrast to the environment at the Harrods concession. Even the sales team were friendlier and approachable. I just asked to see the brooches, but she kindly insisted I should take a seat, get comfortable over a hot beverage (it is January and cold) and she'll find a an associate to assist me and show me the brooches.

To my surprise, I found the brooch I initially wanted from Harrods! I got it and couldn't be any happier. The overall experience was so lovely, I've emailed the store manager to acknowledge both sales associates who offered us a warm service. It was only unexpected because we stated that we were just looking and not shopping, but even with that knowledge they still provided an outstanding service. Exactly how I always treat every client at Burberry, but Chanel has a mixed reputation when it comes with their client services.

MANOLO BLAHNIK HARRODS SHOE HEAVEN

I've always loved Manolo Blahnik ever since I first saw Sex and the City. I may have heard of the footwear designer's name then but I quickly learned about his craft.

I've purchased his published books, because I can't afford his shoes...yet. I love the craftsmanship, from the simplest designs, to artistic creations and the infamous Hangisi. A staple piece.

Initially visited his first boutique in Chelsea, which feels like home, but I was very happy to hear about the new boutique on Harrod's fifth floor shoe heaven. And who's on the top floor of shoe heaven? Manolo Blahnik of course.

Wasn't brave to take pictures of the boutique, so I took pictures of my favourite shoes instead.
